Restart your Phone

If the lines are appearing due to some minor glitch, a simple restart will fix it. Pressing the volume button for a couple of seconds will bring up a reboot menu. Tap on the “Restart” option and let your phone complete the process itself.

Cycling the Battery

The second solution we would suggest you is, cycling your phone battery. If there’re white lines on the screen, this solution may prove effective. A battery cycle is when you charge a mobile to 100%, let it drain to 0% again. Many times, the lines disappear as soon as you charge the battery fully.

Use your Phone in Safe Mode

If the above methods don’t work, it’s time to try this masterstroke. Using your phone in a safe mode will confirm if the lines are because of some faulty app or software.

Here’s how to enter safe mode:

  • Press and hold the Powerbutton, simply like you do when switching off the phone
  • When the Power Off icon appears, Tap and hold it for a second or two.
  • Click on ‘Reboot to Safe Mode’ when the option pops up. Select OKand let the device reboot.

Check if the lines are gone! If yes (hopefully), then a third-party app is the culprit. Now uninstall the latest downloaded applications until the issue is gone. OR you should try the Solution:4

If the lines are still visible. Then the issue is most likely due to some hardware failure- and the best option for you is to take your device to a reliable repair center.

Factory Reset Your Phone

It won’t be aggregation if you call “Factory Reset” mother of all solutions. It fixes most of the issues caused by an app or software glitch. The process actually brings your phone back to the factory setting by erasing all the apps and files you’ve downloaded post your phone purchase.

On most phones, ‘Factory Reset’ can be done via the Settings App. Follow the below steps:

  • Open Settings >> System >> Backup and Reset.
  • Tap on Factory reset option
  • Tap on Reset Device.
  • Enter in your lock screen PIN and Hit Next.
  • You’ll be asked to confirm that all data will be erased by tapping on Delete All or Erase Everything option.

Note: Remember, Factory Reset will delete all your mobile data, so don’t forget to take the backup before you try this process.

Get It Fixed at a Reliable Repair Center

If the horizontal or vertical lines still appear on your phone screen after trying all the above methods, you better take your device to a reliable mobile repair store near you. Most likely, it’s a faulty hardware component that needs to be repaired or replaced. Here, we would suggest you opt for only an authorized service center, as this will ensure a flawless repair at a reasonable cost. Besides, if any of the components have to be replaced, it will be genuine and as per your specific requirements.
