With platforms like WordPress, starting a blog has been easier. But the most important thing to remember is that simply starting a blog on WordPress is not enough; you must also have high-quality content and include some internal links in your blog.

Once the blog has been written, the most important thing is to improve the blog's ranking. So don't be afraid; there are some tried-and-true methods for increasing blog traffic. These method is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Here are some tips and techniques to increase the rank of the blog:

Keyword Research- Keyword research is the process of finding and analysing the search terms entered into search engines by users. However, it has been much easier in recent times due to the availability of several tools such as SEMRush, Ubersuggest, and Keywordtool.io.

Optimize for Google SERPs- There are two ways to rank high on Search Engine Result Page and that is Organically and Paid.

Do SEO Audits- An SEO audit is the process of determining how closely your web presence fits to best practices.

Utilize Users-Generated Content- This is a broad term that refers to any content that is generated on your website as a result of user engagement. User generated content assists you in increasing traffic to your website by providing different possibilities for users to engage and become involved.

These are the key factors to consider while try to boost your blog's ranking.

It is never too late to start blogging as a career. However, there are many things that you need to decide before starting a blog in a full-swing. And among all, deciding on your blogging platform is pertinent.

When we talk of blogging, WordPress vs Blogger tift is vigorous and seems to be never-ending. But, knowing their features and capabilities will help you in choosing the right platform for your blog.

  • WordPress is a fully-featured Content Management System while Blogger renders a simple service-based platform to publish blogs
  • With WordPress blogs, you have access to ample themes and designs for your blog pages. you can even play between various setting options to personalize your WordPress blogs while with Blogger, you can only add new blogs and publish them or respond to comments
  • With WordPress, you have complete access and control of every content you publish. this means that you’re also liable to take responsibility for your WordPress blog. While, with Blogger, your content is sitting on Google’s server and you definitely not fully own it.
  • For more advanced users, WordPress makes it simple to add custom code and complex features to your blog. Blogger lacks this flexibility of customization.

Most people prefer WordPress because it has more features and functions if you plan to blog for a living. It’s been voted the most popular Content Management Software seven years in a row. It’s open source and non-profit. There are plugins that can make it do just about anything.

On the other hand, it’s clunky and not very user friendly. It’s quite buggy and it sometimes requires some CSS or HTML coding skills.

Even so, I’d recommend going with WordPress because it’s the industry standard.

Are you a beginner?

Okay, I see you as a geek.

But…

When it comes to choice, everyone has their own taste!

If you are an absolute beginner, I would suggest you create "a Free WordPress blog" to test your flexibility.

WordPress by-default uses TinyMCE Editor which has an option for distraction free writing. It helps you to stay focused while Drafting your topic.

TinyMCE editor has Two types of modes - 1) Visual Editor & 2) Text Editor.

  1. Visual Editor -

PROS:

  • Here you will get an easy interface to start up your writing. It has options like - **BOLD Text**, *Italic*, Paragraph Alignment, Table creations, Headline Tags option, Image and Media attachment.
  • It's Distraction-free Mode (as I have mentioned initially) helps you write more and well concentrated while drafting your content.
  • You can format your Paragraphs using Simple features from Dropdown.

CONS:

  • If you are writing a lengthy post having a word-count as 4k-5k and using the people-friendly Google Chrome browser, it lags often. (Because, Chrome is built by-default for Speed. And, every time you insert a Media or make some changes into your text, it puts some query from the Database to fit your adjustments.)
  • So, you should switch to browsers like Firefox, especially while writing.
  • After the WordPress Update 4.8, the option to Justify your Paragraphs is removed. While this is not a great issue, you can continue using the HTML Tags with Text Editor.

2) Text Editor:

  • If you are familiar with Basic HTML Tags, you can instantly start using the Text Editor to meet your needs of writing.
  • You can customize your Lines, Paragraphs using several available HTML Tag.

Want to know, which editor I use?

Well, I prefer Paper – Dropbox editor over TinyMCE for producing cornerstone content. It’s smooth and efficient. It bring one-liners to front pushes my mood to write more.

WordPress editor is PHP based. While tools like Dropbox Paper use Markdown Editor. Markdown Editors are fast, good looking, can be used for writing scripts, books, drafts and a lot. The main point in using is — it’s truly distraction free.

It’s been a while, I am with ZenPen ~ Minimal Distraction, Maximum Zen — this editor is also supported by Markdown. It’s very fast. It have an option to export your content in Three Types - 1. HTML 2. Text 3. .md (default extension for Markdown)

Write your content there, and export to your WordPress Editor. It’s a no-brainer’s task. :p
