Solution to fix camera error:

  • Access Settings > Apps > Camera and tap on Force stopClear data and Clear cache.
  • Some user apps such as Flashlight uses camera flash or Skype which also uses camera function.

All this third-party app may have contributed to your camera dysfunction. So make use of the multitasking button at the bottom right and swipe away any open apps. If it still doesn’t work, you can try to detect any apps that may use camera or flash, run some tests until you manage to detect the real problem.

  • If all else fails, boot your device into Safe Mode.

The idea of entering Safe Mode is to ensure that device is running only with system apps and no third-party. This is one of the first things that service center guys do during repair. So it is completely safe to try it yourself.

You can do this by pressing the Power button for a few seconds until the Turn offoption appears, tap on it for few more seconds. You will be asked whether you want to boot your device into safe mode, tap OK button.

Once it has booted into safe mode, restart the camera app. If this works, it means that there isn’t any hardware issue for you to worry about. Try taking a few pictures with your camera and close the camera apps. Do this a few times to make sure it works

  • You may also reboot your phone using normal mode to see if you camera has run perfectly smooth.

Hope it helps!

My cellphone’s camera is not opening, it’s asking me to close other apps using camera or flashlight but even when I close those apps it’s not opening. What should I do?

First of all – As a last resort you can take it to a service centre and they will fix for a very minimum cost for your type of problem so don’t even worry about it.

It might be related to an app that you might have recently installed. Sometimes malware creeps in from untrusted apps and causes problems like that. However, if thats not the case then there are a number of things you can try before going to the service centre –

  1. Try to uninstall anything and everything not required in your phone that you might have installed recently or many days back doesn’t matter just uninstall it if its not needed.
  2. Close all apps and clear out the ram.
  3. Charge your phone above 60% because many smartphones shut down camera access if battery is below certain level.
  4. Now restart your phone.
  5. Now check if the camera is working. Now if the camera is still not working you can proceed with the following –

i. Try accessing the camera using third party apps like whatsapp and instagram and snapchat. Try to send a photo using whatsapp by clicking directly not from the gallery. If the camera is working there, there is something wrong with your android software. You might have to reset your phone.

ii. If you are unable to access camera from third party apps too then you can either take it to service centre or if you have a backup of your data you can format your phone before taking it to service centre. Most probably formatting the phone starts all the services.

Finally if none of this works obviously service centre will be your saviour. Cheers!
